Jim Reese, a long time volunteer in youth soccer, passed away early Friday (October 1) morning. Jim’s injuries were the result of a motorcycle accident on Saturday September 18. He was taken to Ben Taub hospital from the accident scene. He was treated there and then transferred to Herman hospital for recovery. After initially responding well to the treatments, he passed away around 3:00 AM this morning. They think a blood clot may have been the cause of death. Jim is survived by his wife Melodee, his son Jeremy, and his daughters Rachael and Alicia. All three of Jim’s children came up through STYSA’s local soccer programs. They played at First Colony, for the Texans, and for the Challenge soccer clubs. All three children went on to play in college programs. Jim was currently volunteering his time to serve on the EDDOA board as Deputy Commissioner, to help STYSA with their D&P committee, and to coach the Challenge ’88 team. Jim was a past board member of the Challenge Soccer Club and had previously coached the Challenge Nova 82, assisted with the Challenge Blitz ‘83 and coached the Challenge ’85 teams. Jim touched the lives of a great many children and provided a wonderful example to the players that he worked with. Jim will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Our condolences go out to his family.
